Lecture Content:
The US-China relationship has moved from a cycle pattern of retreat/crisis and consolidation/advance under the banner of engagement and assurance to a prolonged crisis sustained by mutual disillusion, hostility, and deterrence. How has the relationship got to this point? What are the root causes of this crisis? What is the prospect of the Sino-US competition? How can Washington and Beijing stabilize the relationship? These are crucially important questions that Professor Suisheng Zhao will explore in his talk.
